Bacterial Meningitis

Meningitis is the inflammation of the covering of the brain and spinal cord.  It can be caused by a virus, parasite,fungus, or bacteria.  Viral meningitis is common and most people recover fully from it. Bacterial meningitis is more serious.

Symptoms:

severe headache           sensitivity to bright light

high temperature           neck stiffness,joint pain

vomiting                       drowsiness, confusion

How can meningitis be prevented?

Do not share food,eating utensils,toothbrushes,straws or anything which goes in the mouth.

A vaccine is available for young children, elderly and college students who live in dormitories.
